Reporting Migration Factory

More of our customers are moving away from traditional BI solutions because of high maintenance & costly licensing models and decide to go for a smarter solution.

This smarter solution often turns out to be BI solutions from vendors like Microsoft, Tableau and Qlik, or custom-designed solutions using programming languages like Python, Rshiny and Javascript programmes like D3.js.

These BI solutions leverage the power and functionality of analytics and visuals to present beautiful and concise reports that yield actionable insights. Interactive visuals built with visual best-practices and the user experience in mind help the business user interact with the data to derive the insights that they are looking for. This self-service business intelligence paves the way for the future of BI solutions,

Such software work best when integrated with a well-built Data Warehouse that handles your data in an organized, secure and efficient way. This is a service that we also provide, allowing us to implement an end-to-end reporting solution, or develop only one area where your organization may be falling behind. This way, we can identify and target the pain points in your business to elevate the overall value you take from your data.

We offer four possible options for your Report Migration:

  1. Pragmatic Approach

  2. Re-engineering of the reporting situation

  3. Hybrid Approach

  4. ‘As-is’ migration

Solution Highlight: Rapid Prototyping

One of our existing solutions involves improving existing reports or dashboards in your organization. If you are unsatisfied with your current reporting solution, we can propose an alternative. Using sample data and existing reports you provide, we can design a more performant, attractive and functional report or dashboard in two-to-three weeks. If your business users are satisfied with this prototype and you wish to explore the possibility of upgrading more reports, we can then discuss how this can be best implemented to use and improve upon the existing prototype.

Unparalleled in user experience, Tableau dashboards leverage an impressive visual armoury to make insight discovery

qlikview & Qliksense

Recently relaunching with QlikSense as a more self-service BI tool, Qlik offers their associative discovery to help you naturally explore your data

data driven documents (D3.js)

At the cost of simplicity, D3 uses the extensive flexibility of the JavaScript programming language to design visuals tailored to your use-case

Option 1: Pragmatic Route

Our initial assessment will focus on the actual business’ needs. Switching to a new tool is the perfect time to enable long-time requirements (new features, open business requests, missing data…). In this approach, only relevant reports for each type of reporting (strategic, management, business oriented and operational) will be re-engineered. Business will be supported through training & coaching to develop new ad hoc reports based on a newly developed data models.

Option 2: Re-engineering

Understand and analyze the existing reporting solution, and business needs it services. Document Requirement specifications. Re-design and develop the new reporting solution using the BI platforms. Re-build the complete Schema and Reports leveraging the capabilities and features of the software equivalent to a Greenfield implementation. Review reports inventory to identify similar reports. Also identify redundant reports and other objects. Optimize / consolidate the reports and other objects. Cater to new requirements.

Option 3: Hybrid Approach

This approach uses best of both the options 4 and 2 to maximize the benefits of migration. A detailed review of reports and objects inventory will be carried out. Reports and other objects will be classified for ‘As Is’ Migration, and Re-engineering. Redundant objects will be separately categorized. Simple reports can undergo ‘As Is’ migration, whereas complex or non-standard reports and reports with performance issues will be candidates for re-engineering.

Option 4: 'As Is' Migration

Replace your existing reporting solution (SAP BusinessObjects, IBM Cognos, Excel reports, other) with a solution based on modern BI platforms “As Is” by rebuilding the existing reports in the modern technology.

  • No functional changes to newly developed reports

  • Both Schema’s and Reports will be more or less identical. The focus will not on leveraging the capabilities and features of BI platforms.

  • Reports inventory will be reviewed and redundant reports and other objects will be identified.
